Social media and the news

Much of the news information that people read about comes from social media websites, and that figure estimate is around 27.8 %. This figure ranks just under print newspapers at 28.8%, greater than radio’s figure of 18.8% and far outpaces the figure for other print publications at just 6%.



Too much misinformation
 People started to create their own websites and blogs. While many of those blogs were just basic diaries, a few of them were about topics like health and politics while others were how to blogs. Many blogs have turned into rumor mills, spreading misinformation that people WANT to believe just because it’s on the web. This misinformation has been shared without the proper vetting of the sources providing the information.




Pupils spending too much time on social media sites have lower academic grades

 Statistics show that pupils using social media too often tend to have GPA’s of 3.06 compared to GPA’s of 3.82 for pupils who don’t use social media. An even scarier fact is that students who use social media tend to score 20 % lower on their test scores then their counterparts.




Social media sites to blame for lost productivity

Social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter are a direct cause for lost productivity at the workplace. People said that social networking was the biggest waste of time in comparison to activities like fantasy football, shopping, and watching television.

Social media is the cause for less face to face communication

People nowadays are texting or are on social media sites instead of communicating with each other during family gatherings. This is because people nowadays thinks that if there is no important reason to meet. So they just 'meet' on facebook or twitter to deliver what they want to talk about.


The Pros Of Social Network

Increased criminal prosecution because of social media

People who incharge in controlling social network can easily detect the 'harm' or 'criminal' account or profile. so they can easily caught their activities and their location. 

Social networking creates new social connections


This is because people nowadays can easily make new friends in social network in facebook, twitter or instagram just by adding their friend list. So it's up to people to accept their friend request or not. But people should be aware for those who is not compatible to add.


Students are doing better in school

Students are doing better is school because they can easily gain knowledge or information from the internet such as wikipedia or google. This is save time for the student to make their homework done. But students should not take easy on their homework because of internet. 


Better quality of life

People can discuss their health conditions, share important information, and resources relevant to their conditions while creating strong support networks.


Social media as a source of employment



Job sourcing has gone modern thanks to social media. Sites such as LinkedIn are a major resource that 89% of job recruiters take advantage of when looking to hire potential employees.

What Is Social Network ?


    Based on Oxford Dictionaries, social network is a network of social interactions and personal relationships. It's also means a dedicated website or other application which enables users to communicate with each other by posting information, comments, messages, images, etc.

    Social networking is web-based services that allow individuals to create a public profile, to create a list of users with whom to share connection, and view and cross the connections within the system. Most social network services are web-based and provide means for users to interact over the Internet, such as e-mail and instant messaging. Social network sites are varied and they incorporate new information and communication tools such as, mobile connectivity, photo/video/sharing and blogging. 


    A social networking service is a place to build social relations among people who, for example, share interests, activities, backgrounds or real-life activities. A social network service consists of a representation of each user (often a profile), his social links, and a variety of additional services.
